Richard H. “Buddy” Wilson
February 5, 1938 - May 20, 2016

Richard H. “Buddy” Wilson, a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the age of 78 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.

One of Buddy's greatest joys was his children and grandchildren; he was proud of each of them. Buddy was a retired owner of Comet Distribution Services and Comet Truck Line. He was the past President of Baton Rouge Port Commission. Buddy served as East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Councilman for District 6 as well as Baton Rouge City Constable. He was an avid supporter of Redemptorist High School and served as President of the Athletic Association. He enjoyed raising cattle at his farm in Magnolia, Mississippi - “Red Stick Farms”, hunting, and fishing. He graduated from Baker High School in 1956.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Gill Wilson, who provided constant loving care and never left his side; children, Stephanie Sansone and husband, David, Stacie Minor and husband, Bruce, Brian Wilson, Scott Wilson; grandchildren, Mallori Diez, Trevor and Tyler Sansone, and Connor and Parker Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Sarah Wilson; siblings, Myrtle Wyble, Earl Wilson, Thelma Daquanno, Lillie Rae Ingles, and Roy Wilson.

Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Trevor Sansone, Tyler Sansone, Connor Wilson, Derek Evans, Johnny Fife, and Ronnie George and honorary pallbearer, Walter Smiley.

Entombment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park.
