Funeral services for Richard Lamar Boutwell, Jr., age 42, of Oak Grove, Louisiana will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Reverends Roy Pepmiller and Dale Jordan will officiate.Burial will follow in the Kilbourne Cemetery in Kilbourne, Louisiana.
Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.
Mr. Boutwell died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was a graduate of Brairfield Academy in Lake Providence, Louisiana. He graduated from L.S.U. in Baton Rouge. He coached college women's basketball until his illness. He fought a brave hard battle with lymphoma.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Richard and Irma Wilson Boutwell; and Joe M. and Lottie Thelma Rushing.
He is survived by his parents, Richard Lamar Boutwell, Sr. and Betty Ann Boutwell of Oak Grove; brother, Jeff Boutwell of Oak Grove; brother, Brady Boutwell of Oak Grove; niece, Katie Boutwell; nephew, John Richard Boutwell.
He is survived by his aunts and uncles: Maxine Dumas, Lottie Burk, Jo Cutrera, Sue Bell, Jean Bikowski, John Bikowski, Alene Vining, Carrol Vining, Billy Jack Rushing, Mary Rushing and two special friends, Jackie Lee and Evette Harris.
Pallbearers are: Jim Sowell, Cleve Shivers, Pat Porter, John Crosby, C. C. Prine, and Artie Boutwell.
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 14, 2008 from noon until 9:00 PM at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove.
