Richard Lynn “Glen” Propes
Richard Lynn “Glen” Propes, 83, of Houston passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014. Glen was born March 24, 1931 in Houston, Texas to Grover and Oma Propes. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Buster Raid Propes, Sherman Creed Propes, Billy Leon Propes and his sister Helen Christine Adams. Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Rose Propes and sons, Richard Glen Propes, John David Propes and daughter, Sharon Rose Hultman; grandchildren, Kailey Rebecca Hultman, Tyler Glen Propes, Sara Jean Propes and Buster Lynn Propes.
Glen served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War (1949-1952) in the 2nd Infantry Division “Second to None”, Division Artillery, the 82nd AAA Battalion.
He retired after 32 years of devoted service with the U.S. Postal Service, Houston, Texas.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Glen enjoyed coaching little league baseball and football with Alief Youth Association (“AYA”) in the 1970s. Glen loved watching football and spending time with his family.
The Propes family will be present to receive friends and family, Friday, May 9, 2014 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Drive @ Kirkwood, Houston, Texas 77079.
