Riny Doering
GRIDLEY -- Services for Rinald "Riny" Daniel Doering, 68, of Gridley will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Gridley Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints.
He died Saturday in an Oroville hospital following a lengthy illness.
Doering was born on Nov. 19, 1919, in Lind, Wash.
A Gridley resident since 1934, he worked for Libby Canning Co. in Gridley for 30 years as a foreman mechanic until his retirement in 1975.
He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army, serving in Europe.
He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Little League, Babe Ruth, and American Legion Baseball in Gridley. He was one of primary organizers of baseball in the Gridley area.
At the time of his death, Doering was active as a committee member for the Church of Latter-day Saints Boy Scout Troop.
He also was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Gridley Lodge No. 1594.
Doering was a member of the Gridley Mormon Church, Liberty Ward.
He also was a member of the Cannery Workers Union Local of Oroville.
His wife, Helen, died 1981.
Survivors include three daughters, Dianna Jolley and Shirley Hansen, both of Orem, Utah, and Barbara Mumford of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Ann Raynor of Oroville; four brothers, Jacob of Oroville, Emil of Biggs, John of Durham and George of Reno, Nev.; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Bishop Wayne Thomas will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the American Heart Association.
