Rita Ann Beck
Memorial services for Rita Ann Beck, 68, of Lubbock, will be Thursday, April 12th at 11 a.m. at Resthaven Mausoleum Chapel. Rita passed from this world on Tuesday, April 3, 2007. She was born on Nov. 29, 1938 in Stanford, Texas, to John and Nell Estes. She graduated from high school in Rule, Texas.
She moved to Lubbock in 1956, where she taught dancing at Arthur Murray's School of Dance. She met and married Gerald Beck in 1959. They owned and operated Lee's Pool Service for many years. Later, Rita opened Beck's Pool and Spa, which she owned and operated until her death. She worked in this field for 48 years, and was highly sought out and respected for her vast knowledge of pools, hot tubs and spas. Rita was active in Beta Sigma Phi for 20 years, where she held many offices, served as president and was chosen Woman of the Year. She enjoyed playing bridge, visiting with her friends, and especially spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her brother, Johnny Estes, and her parents. She is survived by her sons, Lee Beck and wife, Eva, Rodney Beck and wife, LaQuita, both of Lubbock; daughter, Carla Hinsey and husband, Bob, of Tennessee; a sister, Jackie Butler, of Irving; and grandchildren, Josh Neal, Jessica Shelton, Krista Ash, Brian Beck, Eli Beck, all of Lubbock; and a multitude of loving friends and relatives.
