Dr. Robert Alexander Robinson Jr.
Dr. Robert Alexander Robinson Jr., a New Orleans surgeon, died Sunday. He was 80, Dr. Robinson lived in Slidell and New Orleans. He was a native of Gloster, Miss., and a graduate of Tulane University. He was resident pathologist at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and resident surgeon at Mercy Hospital in New Orleans.
Dr. Robinson taught histology and pathology at Loyola University in New Orleans and was acting assistant surgeon with the U.S. Public Health Service from 1933-1936.
Dr. Robinson served with the 108th Calvary, Louisiana National Guard, and was flight surgeon for the Coastal Patrol No. 9 - Civil Air Patrol during World War II. He was a member of the International House, Pickwick Club, Plimsoll Club, Round Table Club, New Orleans Academy of Science, and several medical societies.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Isabelle Homes Robinson, and a sister, Martha Robinson Bradley [sic Bordley].
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral Chapel in New Orleans. Graveside services will be held at noon Wednesday at Roseland Cemetery in Gloster. Jacob Schoen Funeral Home of Covington is in charge of arrangements.
