49-Year Resident Rites Set
Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Robert (Bob) Hawthorne, 84, a resident of Long Beach for 49 years, who died Saturday in a convalescent hospital.
Masonic rites for Hawthorne, of 333 W. Fourth St., are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Holton & Son Mortuary, Sixth Street and Locust Avenue.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie, whom he married in 1909, and daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth C. Dauwalder, of Glendale. Hawthorne came to Long Beach in 1918, becoming paymaster of Southwestern Shipbuilding Co., and later joining Richfield Oil Co., as traveling auditor. In 1938 he entered the real estate business.
He was active in several branches of Masonry, and was Master of Long Beach Lodge 327, F.&A.M., in 1926, most recently serving as its secretary, from 1954 to 1960.
