Robert Buce Rivet

Shreveport, LA - Robert Buce Rivet, age 92, passed away on Tuesday January 1, 2019 at his home, Azalea Estates Assisted Living.

From his birth in Lecompte, LA on April 15, 1926, until his death Bob never met a stranger. In high school at C.E. Byrd Bob met the love of his life, Betty Lou Lewis. They dated in High School and after he returned home from serving his country in the United States Navy during WWII, they were married on February 21, 1947.

Bob was a sales rep for Williamson Sales before joining his father-in-law in the Lewis Transfer Moving and Storage Business and recently retired after 18 years with Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

Bob was very active in his community and always enjoyed seeing the joy in life. He was an Eagle Scout and later served as a Scoutmaster, a working member of the Kiwanis club where he served as President of the Shreveport Chapter, a 32nd Degree Mason at the Booth Lodge. He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, and was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hazel and Charles Rivet, sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and John Joyner, son-in-law, Chuck Collingwood and a granddaughter.

Bob is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty; son Douglas Rivet of Shreveport, LA (Connie); daughters, Debbe Collingwood of Las Vegas, NV and Jan Nelson (Leo) of Monroe, LA; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Broadmoor Baptist Memorial Chapel, 4110 Youree Dr. Shreveport. Officiating was Dr. Larry Williams. Burial followed at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, LA.
