Robert E. Osborne, II

SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. Robert E. Osborne, II, age 43, died at Grace Home on Friday, June 20, 1997, after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation was held at Osborn Funeral Home on Sunday, June 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 23 at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. Officiating will be The Very Reverend M. L. Agnew, Jr., assisted by the Clergy of the Cathedral. Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery, followed by a reception in the Parlour at St. Mark's Cathedral.

Mr. Osborne was born in New Orleans, La., on December 6, 1953, and had been a resident of Shreveport for 20 years. He graduated from LSU in 1976, majoring in geology and spent his career as an active member of the Shreveport oil and gas community. He joined Palmer Petroleum in 1976 and over the next fourteen years concentrated his exploration activities in the Ark-La-Tex, Mississippi and South Louisiana. In 1990, Mr. Osborne formed his own venture, Keystone Exploration, which focused on drilling for new oil and gas reserves. This successful venture prompted him to join with Brammer Engineering in 1992, to form and serve as President of Brammer-Keystone Energy, an oil and gas acquisition firm with producing properties in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Mr. Osborne was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, St. Mark's Cathedral School Board and served on the Finance Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Western Louisiana. He was also a member of numerous oil and gas organizations, including the Louisiana Independent Oil and Gas Association, Independent Petroleum Association of America and American Association of Petroleum Geologist. He was a member of the Shreveport and Lafayette Geologist Societies, past president of the Shreveport Petroleum Map Association and the Ark-La-Tex Oilmen's Golf Association. Membership in civic organizations included the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, Committee of One Hundred and the Council for a Better Louisiana. He also served on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army.

Mr. Osborne is survived by his wife, Kimberly Warner Osborne, and two children, Lauren Michelle Osborne and Michael Wales Osborne. Other surviving family members include his parents, Robert Edward Osborne and Harriet Haag Osborne of Mandeville, La.; two sisters, Kathleen Diane Osborne of Baton Rouge, La., and Susan Osborne Scott and her husband, John Archer Scott, III of Lexington, Ky.; nephew, Jase Scott and niece, Kathleen Scott.

Pallbearers will be Jerry France, Jim Nowery, Bill Comengys, Ted May, Keith Evans, George Baldwin, Chris Franks, and Barron O'Neal. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Brammer, Bob Lafargue, Nick Wheless, Willis Meadows, Frank Moore, Cody White, Russ Morrison, Owen Henderson, Gerry Huggs, Jerry Parker, C.J. Bonnecarre and Nicky Nix.

The family requests the donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, The Robert E. Osborne, II Scholarship Fund at St. Mark's Cathedral School, American Cancer Society or Grace Home.

The family expresses its sincere appreciation to Dr. Richard Gralla and staff of the Oschner Cancer Institute in New Orleans, La.; Dr. Alan Grosbach, Dr. Steve Hightower and staff of the Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center; Dr. Tom McCook and the entire staff of Schumpert Medical Center and the staff of Grace Home. Special appreciation is also extended to Mrs. Kim Nard, Ms Marily Garner, Mrs. Susan Anzalone, the clergy and parishioners of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, the Brammer Engineering and Keystone Exploration business family and to the community of friends for the love and support given to Bob during his illness and throughout his life.
