LEGION CONDUCTS FUNERAL HELD IN COLUMBIA TODAY

Services For R. F. Meredith Take Place; Died Here Sunday

Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Methodist church in Columbia for Robert F. Meredith, 36, well known planter and merchant of that city, who died in a Monroe hospital at 9:15 o'clock Sunday morning. He had been removed there in a critical condition immediately after he had fired two shots into his body in the region of the heart Saturday morning. Reason for his action is unknown.

Mr. Meredith served with distinction in the World war and was a member of the Columbia post, American Legion, which had charge of the services at the grave in the Columbia cemetery. Rev. L. H. Harrell officiated both as pastor of the Methodist church and as chaplain of the post.

Surviving are the widow and five children who are: Josephine, Robert Jr., William, Paul and Pauline Meredith. Also two brothers survive, and one sister, who are A. E. Meredith of Columbia and Sam Meredith of Shreveport, and Mrs. Dorothy Jackson of Columbia.
