Rob was born on Nov. 13, 1942, in Wewoka, to Tuskahoma Brown “Mutt” Miller and Dorothy Miller. He graduated from Wewoka High School and went on to attend college at East Central University, then to the University of Oklahoma where he graduated in 1964, with a bachelor's degree. He attended medical school at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn., and graduated with a Doctorate of Optometry in 1967.
Rob married the love of his life, Darlene Goldsmith on March 7, 1969, and they made their home in Duncan. He joined Dr. Odom's optometric practice in 1969, where he eventually took over the practice which he ran successfully for more than 42 years with the help of so many admiring co-workers and loyal patients.
Rob was a member of several clubs and organizations in Duncan, including the Duncan Jaycees, Duncan Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, Duncan Rotary, a founding board member of the Duncan Literacy Council, and founder of the Marauders Wrestling Club of Duncan.
Rob was proud to be an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Duncan and a member of the Perceivers Sunday School Class where he served on the finance committee.
He was a long time fan of all OU sports, especially OU football games. He was a charter member of the OU Sooner Club and acted as the team's optometrist where he helped numerous student athletes through the years.
Rob is preceded in death by his mother and father, Tuskahoma Brown “Mutt” and Dot Miller; his mother and father-in-law, Roland R. and Imogene Goldsmith; brother-in-law, Roland E. Goldsmith; great-nephew, Jake Bacon.
Rob is survived by his wife of more than 42 years, Darlene Miller; his daughter, Kery Miller Mueller and her husband David; his son Mark Roland Miller and his wife Traci; three granddaughters: Madison Kate Mueller, Caroline Armin Mueller and Meg Meridith Miller, all of Oklahoma City; his brother, David Mark Miller and his wife Tad Schutt of Bisbee, Ariz.; his sister-in-law, Carol Goldsmith of Duncan; his nieces: Kellee Wehrmann, Kristy Hooker and Koree Wilkerson and their extended families; and numerous friends who showered Rob, Darlene and the entire family with love, support and strength throughout this journey.
We will forever be grateful and thankful for this outpouring. Bubba always said he was the luckiest man in the world to have such amazing family and friends. How very true this was.
The family asks that donations be made in Rob's honor to either “Bubba's House of Zambia, Africa,” founded by his granddaughters, which is an orphanage being built in Zambia, to care for and educate underprivileged children which embodies the care and spirit that Rob showed throughout his life: “Bubba's House” C/O Family Legacy Missions International, 5005 West Royal Lane, Suite 252, Irving, Texas 75063; or to Duncan First United Methodist Church, Trustees Committee at 2300 N.
