Mr. Robert Hausser
January 11, 1922 - August 7, 2015

At age 93, Robert Hausser went home to be with the Lord.

He was a member of a prominent South Texas pioneering family, growing up on the border in Eagle Pass before moving to San Antonio in 1932. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School, studied at the University Texas, the University of Colorado and graduated from St. Mary's University with an accounting degree. He was in the Army Air Corps and graduated in the first class of pilots from Stinson Field. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army and was stationed in England during World War II.

After the war, he earned his law degree from St. Mary's University. He was the attorney for Gilcrease Oil Company for 20 years before forming his own oil and gas company, Cologne Production Company with his two partners, S.E. Thomas and Lawrence Flume. Hausser was an authority on Texas oil and gas law and spent many days drilling and operating oil and gas wells around the country, especially in South Texas.

Due to his ranching heritage, Hausser had a love for Texas and Mexican history. His father, Albert Hausser, was sheriff of Maverick County and later Bexar County and his grandfather, William G. Hausser, built the officer's quarters at Fort Clark in Brackettville, the Maverick County Courthouse, and the Catholic and Episcopal churches in Eagle Pass, all of which are Recorded Historic Texas Landmarks. Hausser studied Texas and Mexican history, collecting books covering those subjects. He was a lifelong member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry. He was a founding member of the Town Club, a member of The Argyle Club and San Antonio Country Club. Hausser entertained many with his jubilant playing of the piano. He enjoyed tennis, ping-pong, dominoes and hunting on his South Texas ranch.

Hausser was preceded in death by his father, Albert Hausser, mother, Elizabeth Grass Hausser Hair and his wife of 62 years, Maurine Sasser Hausser to whom he was a devoted husband.

He is survived by his sons Robert Hausser, Jr. and wife Christine, Albert Ford Hausser and wife Meta, William Stephen Hausser and wife Susan, grandchildren Stephen Hausser, Amelia Hausser Williams and husband Rob, Ford Hausser and his fianceé Rachel Holt, Rob Hausser and extended family member Lupe Rodriguez. The family thanks his care givers Oscar Gonzalez, Melba Martinez, Pamela Nichols, Rosalbina Martinez and Teri Hultquist.

A private service was held at St. John's Chapel at The Bishop Jones Center.

Internment will take place at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
