Robert H. McCarty

Mr. Robert H. McCarty, 77 of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Washington, Arkansas passed away, Monday, September 5, 2011. Mr. McCarty was born, January 22, 1934 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Harvey W. and Mary Whitehead McCarty. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Veen.

Bob graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA in 1952 and Baylor University in 1956.

After ROTC at Baylor, Bob served six years as an officer in the US Air Force, which included a year long tour at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland. He left to work at Colson Corp. in Jonesboro, AR where he became chief accountant. From there, Bob moved to Bossier City, LA where he was controller at Gym-Dandy. He came to Tyler in 1969 and worked for James Fair's Hide-A-Way Lake. After some time, he started his own accounting firm, Business Resources, from which he retired last month.

A committed Christian, Bob was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and was a deacon for many years. He also had been a Mason, a member of the Lion's Club and National Association of Accountants, as well as a charter member of the Board of Trustees at Centre Point Ministries. Bob also had a passion for golf, photography and woodcarving.

Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nina Harris McCarty; son, Robert H. ``Bo'' McCarty, Jr. of Karnes City; daughter's, Susan McCarty Huskey and husband Greg of Pettus, Sara McCarty Beam and husband Bradley of Bullard; grandchildren, Sean and Brent McCarty, Grayson, Hannah and Neil Huskey and Jacob, Coleman, Ethan and Maddie Grace Beam; niece Kathy Veen and great nephew, Ben Veen.

A graveside service will be, 3:00pm, Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Washington Cemetery, Washington, AR. Burial to follow under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope.
