Robert `Bob' Blake

BROWNWOOD -- Robert H. ``Bob'' Blake, 87, died Sunday at a local nursing home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Blake was born in Trinity and was owner, editor and publisher of several weekly papers in South Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M College in 1930 and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He ran the newspaper in Lompoc, Calif., before buying Port Printing Company in Corpus Christi. He moved to Brownwood in 1949 and purchased West Texas Printing Company. He was a 50-year Mason and past district governor of Rotary International. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. He married Mary Sue McMullan in 1940.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Bill Blake, Steve Blake, Roger Blake and Paul Blake, all of Brownwood; one daughter, Beverly Smith of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30-8 p.m. today.
