Funeral services for Robert H. Twomey Jr. (Uncle Junior) were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 13 at Old Center Baptist Church in the Old Center Community. The Rev. Jerry Mathis officiated. Burial followed in Old Center Cemetery under the direction of Don Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage. He died Wednesday, March 12 at Panola Healthcare.
Born Sept. 30, 1920 in Panola County, he was the son of Robert H. Sr. and Annie Marie Gomillion Twomey. Robert was a farmer and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a lifetime resident of Panola County, and member of Old Center Baptist Church.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Margaret Twomey of Old Center; sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Julian Peddy of Tenaha; sister-in-law, Mrs. LaVerne Twomey of Old Center; 19 nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also survive.
Pallbearers were Ralph Funk, Barney Bryant, Wayne Bryant, Benny Ritter, Rob Twomey and Hank Twomey.
