Rev. R. L. Maples

FERRIDAY (Special) -- Funeral services were at 11 a.m. today for the Rev. Robert Lee Maples Sr., 41, who died Thursday in Concordia General Hospital after a short illness.

Services at Mimosa Pentecostal Church were officiated by the Revs. E. M. Hooter, W. H. McLain, O. C. Dyess, Tom Mayo Sr., and J. T. Massey and burial under direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday were in Huffman Cemetery near Jena.

A native of Harrisonburg, he had lived in Ferriday for 18 years and was pastor of the Shaw Pentecostal Church.

In addition to his widow, Mrs. Margaret Maples of Ferriday, he is survived by three sons, Johnny, Robert and Donnie Maples, of Ferriday; four daughters, Mrs. Gracie Rutledge of Vidalia, Mrs. Barbara Lincecum, and Misses Doria and Carolyn Maples of Ferriday; his mother, Mrs. Evelyn Maples of Georgetown; four brothers, Virgil and Joel Maples of Ferriday, Ozie Maples of Georgetown and Alton Maples of El Paso, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Gautreaux of Crowley, Mrs. Marie Montpelier of Jonesville and Mrs. Rosalie Mock of El Paso and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Jack Knapp, David Kennon, Ed Weatherly, Dewey Watson, Doyle Stockman and Bernard Haygood.
