Robert Lester Gunter
(October 28, 1928 - December 1, 2009)

Mr. Robert Lester Gunter, age 81 of Gaars Mill, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in West Monroe, LA.

Mr. Gunter was a 1953 graduate of Northeast Louisiana State College where he was a member of the football team. He served his country in the U.S. Navy where he also played football.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue (Gaar) Gunter.

Mr. Gunter is survived by his two daughters, Amanda Stewart and husband Joe of West Monroe, LA and Melissa Semb and husband Ron of Sulphur, LA; one son, Samuel Gaar Gunter and wife Cindy of Gaars Mill, LA; grand-daughter, Chelsea Semb, step-granddaughter, Jennifer Vicknair; grandson, Samuel Dray Gaar Gunter; two step-grandsons, Kyle Guilliams and Daniel Guilliams both of Dodson; one sister, Pearl Ferrell of Charleston, MO; one special brother-in-law, Guy C. Gaar, Jr.; special friend, Press Berry.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, December 4, 2009 in the New Hope Methodist Church of Gaars Mill with Rev. Loy Gaar officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield.

Visitation will be held from 5-8PM on Thursday at Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield and on Friday at the church from 9:00AM until time of services.
