Robert Sowers
Funeral services for Robert Morris Sowers, 63, of 15325 Jersey Drive, Houston were held at 10:00 a.m. June 14 at the Jersey Village Baptist Church. Graveside services were at 3:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Crockett, with Reverend E.G. Morgan officiating.
Eulogy was given by Dr. J.W. Harper, Superintendent of Cypress-Fairbanks School District.
Sowers was a member of the Jersey Village Baptist Church, former superintendent of Hardin Independent School District and Elementary principal at Bane Elementary School in Cy-Fair School District. A member of TSTA, Alumni of Sam Houston State and A&M University and Woodman of World.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Woodie Dell Sowers of Houston, 2 daughters, Mrs. Norma Rives of Liberty, and Mrs. Sara Cole of Houstons; 2 sisters, Mrs. T.H. Morgan of Three Rivers and Mrs. Bob Tomlin of Bullard. 2 brothers, Sam B. Sowers of Tomball and Dr. George V. Sowers of Tomball, 2 grandchildren, Shelly and Mike Rives of Liberty.
Pallbearers were Donald Thornton, C.M. Ownes, Baker Wright, Roy Metcalf, Ernest Carroll Hallmark, J.D. Handley, T.A. “Bubba” Willbern and B.O. Favors.
A memorial has been established in the name of R.M. Sowers at the Cypress-Fairbanks School Administration buildring c/o Donald Thornton.
