LAST RITES FOR RHODNEY [sic RODNEY] BYRD

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 27, from Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Gloster, for Rhodney [sic Rodney] Holland Byrd, 72, of Route 2, Gloster. Rev. Allen Bowers, assisted by Rev. Reggie Forman, officiated.

Mr. Byrd died at his home of natural causes. Born October 16, 1911, in Amite County, Mississippi, Mr. Byrd was the son of the late Wallace C. and Kate Bell Crum Byrd. He was a former resident of Hawaii, from 1934 to 1964, retired from the Army, was a Methodist and member of the Union Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Adeline Kaneao Byrd, Gloster; four daughters: Mrs. Gene (Leimoni) McCurley, Gloster, Mrs. Kathren Bell Villacorte, Mrs. Betty Jean Kahoana and Mrs. Gloria Teo, all of Hawaii; four sisters: Mrs. Helen Hinton, Gloster, Mrs. Jenson Reynolds, Alexandria, La., Mrs. Amelia Calloway, Baker, La., and Mrs. Betty Voorhies, Baton Rouge, La. and 20 grandchildren.

Burial was in Roseland Cemetery in Gloster, with Brown Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
