Rev. Roger Emmons
COMMERCE -- Rev. Roger D. Emmons, 66, of Commerce died Feb. 8, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. A graveside service is scheduled at noon today at Brigham Cemetery under the direction of Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home of Commerce. Rev. Kenneth Ballard and Rev. Thomas Forbis will officiate.
Son of Richard and Bertha Poissoit Emmons, he was born Feb. 7, 1941, in Center. He married Marilyn Allen Emmons on Oct. 28, 1999. Rev. Emmons was a preacher and a home builder. He was an avid Bible reader, enjoyed singing, carpenter work, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his mother of Crockett; his wife of Commerce; two daughters, Donna Spring Houston and husband Sam of Plano and Debra Vandergriff and husband Stacey of Greenville; two grandchildren, Kolton Emmons and Kayla Vandergriff, both of Greenville; two brothers, Floyd Emmons of Humble and James Emmons of Allen; five sisters, Edith Jackson of Sherman, Dorothy Forbis of Center, Patsy Stroud of Sherman, Beverly Dickinson of San Leon and Theresa Allums of Crockett; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Emmons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda F. Emmons; his father; a brother, Billy Gene Emmons; and a sister, Geraldine Emmons.
