Roland Elliott

TUSCALOOSA -- Roland Elliott, age 87, died Friday, November 11, 2005, (Veteran's Day) at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today at Memory Hill Gardens with Reverend Randy Pate officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Elliott is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Edward Elliott and Annie Magenta Farmer Elliott Evans; his brother, William Edward Elliott; and his sister, Mary Lena Elliott.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Frances Riley Elliott of Tuscaloosa; daughter, Mary Ward Elliott McAdory of Woodbridge, Virginia; grandchildren, Dr. Louis Elliott McAdory of Cincinnati, Ohio, David Ward McAdory of Columbia, South Carolina, and Mary Elizabeth McAdory of Richmond, Virginia; and two great grandchildren, David McKinney McAdory and Kalie Jane Mathis of Columbia, South Carolina.

Mr. Elliott was born on December 17, 1917 in Slidell, Louisiana, and served in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a faithful member of Grants Creek Baptist Church for 45 years, serving as a deacon for many of those years before moving his membership to Skyland Baptist Church. He retired from the BF Goodrich Company after 33 years of service.

Pallbearers will be William Elliott, Jr., Charles Ray Elliott, Charles Stamps, Thomas Stamps, Jerry Glover, and Frank Burns.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. George Miller and staff, employees of Hospice of West Alabama, all friends and neighbors of Windsong South, Fosters and Ralph, Carl and Marie Smith, retirees of BF Goodrich, Juanita Lee, Clara Randall, and Betty Jones.

Mr. Elliott was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
