Bernice Man Dies In Mishap; Services Today

BERNICE (Special) -- Funeral services for Ronald Evans, 20, were held at 2:30 p.m. today at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Davey Hughes officiating.

Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home of Bernice.

Mr. Evans, a former Louisiana Tech Student employed by the Chicago Bridge and Iron Co., died in Baton Rouge of head injuries he received in a fall while working at the Louisiana Forest Products plant in Port Hudson, according to Coroner Chester Williams.

A member of Evans' family said he died Wednesday after surgery in a Baton Rouge hospital.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Evans of Bernice; five brothers, James Evans of Tyndall AFB, Fla., Joey and Donald Evans, both of Bernice, Roddie Evans of Baton Rouge and Eddie Paul Evans of San Diego, Calif.; six sisters, Mrs. Doris Winfrey of Vacoville, Calif., Mrs. Marilyn Elliott of Bernice, Mrs. Laverne Hunt of El Dorado, Ark., Mrs. Glenda Middleton of Bienville; and Miss Gladys Evans and Miss Debra Evans, both of Bernice.

Pallbearers were Charles Jackson, Joe Jackson, Larry Grafton and George Dean Holland.
