Roosevelt Joseph “Del” Delhorne

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at the age of 92, at St. James Place, Baton Rouge. Mr. Delhorne was a native of St. Martin Parish and a resident of Colfax. He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, having served 23 years, and a World War II veteran. Following his military service, he was employed by Pinkerton's Inc. and later the Louisiana Department of Labor.

He is survived by his wife, Sally P. Delhorne, nee Powell, of Colfax, and presently Baton Rouge; daughters, Yvonne D. Gibbs and husband Richard, of Swampscott, Mass., and Nantucket, Mass., and Lorraine A. Delhorne, of Medford, Mass.; son, Gregory M. Delhorne and partner Cindy Jones, of Liverpool, N.Y.; stepchildren, Charles F. Cockfield, of Baton Rouge, and Tommie L. Cockfield and wife Pat, of Baton Rouge; granddaughters, Megan Cockfield and Anna Cockfield; and brother, Floyd Delahorne, of Tulsa, Okla.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jeffrey and Ida (Serrette) Delahorne; brothers, Shefton and Lloyd Delahorne; and sister, Mary D. Roy.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave., Baton Rouge, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.

Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Cecelia. Arrangements by Rabenhorst Funeral Home.
