Mr. Ross C. Dark

COLUMBIA, LA. - Services for Mr. Ross C. Dark, 85, of Columbia will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 28, at the Chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home in Columbia with the Rev. T. O. Arrington officiating. Burial will be at the Harmony Grove Cemetery at Dodson, La.

Mr. Dark died Friday Oc[t]ober 26, 1990, at the Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Columbia after a brief illness. He was a native of Winn Parish and a member of the Sandy Bayou Baptist Church and a farmer. He was a former member of the La. Farm Bureau and the La. Soil Conservation. Mr. Dark served on the Caldwell Parish Police Jury from 1948-1972, where he served as president for 4 years. He was instrumental in building the Caldwell Parish Library and Caldwell Recreation Center and remodeling the Caldwell Parish Court House. He also built many roads and bridges during his 24 years of service with the Police Jury.

Mr. Dark was preceded in death by a grandson, Billy Ross Dark.

Mr. & Mrs. Dark would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in November of this year.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maude Sanders Dark of Columbia; three sons, Mr. Billy Dark of Natchitoches, La., Mr. Jerry Dark and Mr. Lanny Dark, both of Columbia; one brother, Mr. J. L. Dark of Dodson; one sister, Mrs. Ottice Sanders of Readheimer, La.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Roger Dark, Steven Dark, Will Ed Dark, Richard Dark, Dana Sanders, Glen Machen, Charles Dark and Jack Sowers. Honorary Pallbearers: Billy Frazier, James Mott, Waymon May, Herman Mayes, James Cruse, Bobby Joe Mercer, Carl Williams, H. L. Lee, Leland Kenny, Welch Lively, Stanley Branch, Emmitt Head, Curtis Duke, Herman Wyles.

Visitation hours will be Sunday 8 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
