Roy Emmons
Roy Emmons, 86, died at 2:50 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, in his residence.
Mr. Emmons was born in Sikes and had lived in the Lake Charles area since 1947. He was a graduate of Sikes High School in 1935. Mr. Emmons graduated from Louisiana State University in 1941 with a B. S. in Agriculture. He worked for Borden's for a number of years; he also worked for Kelly Webber Fertilizer Company as a plant manager. Mr. Emmons retired from Occidental Chemical Plant after 20 years as a plant manger. Mr. Emmons was a member of Christ Community Church in Lake Charles, where he was a Sunday school teacher. He loved his family especially all the grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Edna Mae Blackwell Emmons of Lake Charles; one son, William Doland Emmons of Lake Charles; one stepson, Barry Blackwell of Lake Charles; one stepdaughter, Glenda Hong of Houston; one sister, Ava Parker of Winfield; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren also survive him. Mr. Emmons is preceded in death by his first wife, Linnie Belle Doland Emmons.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in Johnson Funeral Home. Dr. Rick McClain will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. Saturday.
