Roy Hawthorne Death Still Unsolved

Special to The News

FORT WORTH, Texas. July 28. -- Whether vengeance or a drunken brawl led to the death of Roy Hawthorne, 39, 2727 Roosevelt avenue, whose body was found Saturday night saturated with oil and burning near Lake Worth, is a puzzle which the Sheriff's department is trying to unravel.

Fragments of a beer bottle found in the dead man's shoes is taken as possible evidence that he was killed with a bottle during a brawl, then shot and taken to the lonely spot, where oil was thrown over the body and ignited.

A man and woman are being held for question in connection with the killing.
