Roy L Jones

Roy L Jones, son of Mrs. Claude Martin died in a tragic accident, in Laurel, Miss. In his duties as electrician for Laurel Light & RR Co, while trying to fix some wires a truck struck the wires attached to the post he was working on, and the post snapped off at the base so suddenly that Mr Jones was unable to undo his safety belt which became locked as the pole fell, his head striking against the spikes. He was dead before bystanders reached his side.

Mr Jones was married to Miss Icey Lou Mitchem, dau of Mr & Mrs S M Mitchem of this city in February 1921. One child, Roy Stephen and the widow mourn his tragic death.

Mr Jones was an ex-service man, seeing service overseas before and during the war. He was member of Odd Fellows & American Legion.

The remains arrived in this city Tuesday evening. Services were held at Laural, Miss. Monday and interment was made at Magnolia yesterday afternoon, with services at the gravesite.
