DEATH CLAIMS ROY STRANGE
Roy Strange, 35, who resided in the Mt. Pleasant community on the ward 5 road, died in the Caldwell Hospital shortly after midnight Tuesday night. He was taken to the hospital Saturday night for treatment. Interment was made on Wednesday afternoon in the Welcome Home cemetery at 4 o'clock, near Grayson, after the funeral services were held from the First Baptist church of Columbia with Rev. Guy F. Winstead, pastor, and Rev. John Kitchingham, in charge of the services. The funeral was conducted under the direction of the Riser Funeral Home.
Roy was born in LaSalle parish near Jena, and moved to this parish six years ago, and in that period of time made many friends here who regret to hear of his death.
He is survived by his widow and two step-children; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Strange; three brothers, Joe Strange of Woodworth; Andrew Strange of this city; and Laney Strange of the U.S. Navy, stationed in Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Lou Tullos of Eudora, Ark and Miss Mildred Strange of New York.
Pallbearers were Elijah Haddox, Edgar Duke, Shirley Bradley, Harry Brooks, Harry Busch, Wilson Smith and Urcin Brandin.
