Funeral services for Jean T. Harris, age 80, of Oak Grove, Louisiana, will be 3PM, Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church of Oak Grove, Louisiana.

Reverend Dr. Curtis Carroll will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove City Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 2, 2012, between the hours of 5 to 8PM at Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.

Mrs. Harris passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Jean was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Oak Grove. She served on numerous committees. She and her husband owned and operated Sumlin-Harris Five & Dime for many years. Later they built and operated a new Ben Franklin Store in Oak Grove. Jean, later went to work as City Clerk for the Town of Oak Grove and retired from that position.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Blair Harris; grandson, Miles O'Fallon; parents, Richard Jack Taunton and Ruby Lucille Taunton; brothers, Joe and Jimmy Taunton; sister, Georgie McClure; nephews, Jackie Dale Taunton and Sammy Joe Taunton.

Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Fletcher Lassiter of Portland, Arkansas; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Phil White of Oak Grove, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Cydnie Harris of Lake Providence, Louisiana; son and his fianc'ee, Steven Harris and Shirley Truelove of Delhi, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Cathy Harris of West Monroe, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Keith O'Fallon of Laneville, Texas; brother, Jack Taunton of Jonesville, Louisiana; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be William Lassiter, Robby Lassiter, Brock Harris, Adam Harris, Jeffery Harris, Mack Lancaster.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael White and Matthew O'Fallon.
