Ruby Kathryn Dawson Thornton

Ruby Kathryn Dawson Thornton, age 78 of Gloster, passed away Sunday March 17, 2013, at her daughters residence near Gloster. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother and loved her family dearly. She had lots of friends and lived life to the fullest.

She was born June 2, 1934, to Luther Harper Dawson and Ruby Whittington Dawson. She helped her husband and daughter run their respective businesses and was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church near Gloster, MS, and attended Zion Hill Baptist Church near Liberty, MS.

SURVIVORS include 3 Daughters: Glenda Mizell and her husband, Denis; Charlotte Ravencraft and Wesley Sterling, and Darlene Thornton and her husband Robert, all of Gloster.1 Sister: Evelyn Havard of Centreville,Ms. 5 Grandchildren: Melanie Brantley Netterville and her husband Chuck; April Ravencraft Pullen and her husband Bill; Shuna Mizell; Brantley Ravencraft and his wife Sarah; and Lyndsey Thornton. 5 Great-Grandchildren: Ashley Netterville, Beau Pullen, Seth Pullen, Denslea Kate Mizel, and Presley Ravencraft. 3 Special Friends: Terry Day, Wendy Aaron and Felicia Partin, and a host of Nieces and Nephews.

She is preceded in death by Her Parents: Luther Harper Dawson and Ruby Whittington Dawson., the Father of her children, Pete Brantley, Her Husband, Lamar Thornton. 5 Brothers: Mann Dawson, Roger Dawson, Wilmer Dawson, Eugene “Boy” Dawson and Billy Dawson. 3 Sisters: Lazelle Boykin, Lexie Whittington and Vassar Boykin.

Visiting at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, MS. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, 5:00 pm until time of Funeral Services Wednesday, March 20, at 2:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery near Gloster, MS. Rev. Gary Bowlin and Rev. Robert Toney will officiate.

Pallbearers are Robert Thornton, Brantley Ravencraft, Chuck Netterville, Joey Mark Dawson, Dean Ash, Nathan Huff, Kyle Towles, Keith Ravencraft, Jerry Boykin and Jennings Freeman. Honorary Pallbearers are D.D. Dawson, Gary Whittington, Tony Dawson, Sammy Whittington, and Loren Nelson.
