Ruby Narron Evans

WASHINGTON, N.C. - Ruby Narron Evans, 89, of 832 Biggs Road, Washington, N.C., and formerly of Rocky Mount, died Tuesday at Beverly Hospice Care in Greenville, N.C.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount, N.C., with Rev. Lawrence Evans and Rev. Robert Shelton officiating.

The family will join friends Thursday evening January 9, 2003, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East Washington, N.C. On Friday, January 10, 2003, the family will join friends at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 North Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, N.C., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Mrs. Evans was born August 6, 1913, in Johnston County. She was the daughter of the late Elisha H. and Bethany Parker Evans.

Mrs. Evans was a retired quality control secretary with Burlington Industries, and was a charter member of the Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Evans Shirley and her husband, Robert L. Shirley of Washington, and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mills of Rocky Mount, N.C. and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Evans on February 16, 1977, and several brothers and sisters.
