Mrs. Ruby Opal Powell Haynes

RINGGOLD, LA -- Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ruby Opal Powell Haynes, 92, of Ringgold, LA, will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at Rockett Funeral Home Chapel in Ringgold. Officiating will be Bro. Gary Hahler of Springhill Baptist Church in Ringgold assisted by Rev. Billy Burkett. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at the Rockett Funeral Home.

Mrs. Haynes was born on July 20, 1914, in Fryeburg, LA, to the late Aubie Lee Powell, Sr and Bertha McClung Powell. On July 28, 1934, she married the love of her life, Jack Haynes, with whom she shared 54 glorious years and six children. She was retired from the Bienville Parish School Board and a faithful member of Springhill Baptist Church in Ringgold. She was dearly loved by all her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as one who always sacrificed for the well-being of those she loved. She went home to be with her Lord while surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 11, 2006, after a short illness.

Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack; her parents; sister, Lurline Powell Hall Posey of Shreveport; two brothers, Elmer Powell of Dallas, and Marvin Powell of Monroe.

Left to cherish her memory are six children, Jack N. Haynes and wife Carolyn of Baton Rouge; Harold Haynes and wife Dollie of Keithville; Ron Haynes and wife Pat of Colfax; Elaine Lawson and husband Lowell of Shreveport; Larry Haynes and wife Martha of Bossier City; and Paula Mason and husband Ken of Benton. She is survived by twelve grandchildren, Aimee Mobley and husband Jim; Peter Haynes and wife Doris; Tammi Philyaw and husband Wesley; Kathy Deen and husband Kenneth; Brian Haynes and wife Andrea; Andrea Mayo; Angie McIntyre and husband Steven; Allison Lawson; Rob Haynes and wife Sarah; Craig Mason and wife Sommer; Chad Mason and Chris Mason. She is survived by fifteen great-grandchildren, Misti Cuvas, Derek Philyaw and wife Sarah and Laci Philyaw; Avery and Alivia Deen; Emily and Abby Mayo; Cody, Colin, and Cameron McIntyre; Kevin, Blake, and Cassie Haynes, Kaylin and Kenzie Mason and two great-great grandchildren, Maddie and Tailor Brodus. She is survived by three brothers, Ray Powell and wife Nadine of Blanchard; Melvin Powell and wife Jean of Sterlington and Aubie Lee Powell, Jr. and wife Johnnie of Sterlington; two sister-in-laws, Juanita Haynes of Farmerville and Lucille Powell of Seagoville, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives all of whom she loved.

Pall bearers will be her grandsons and grand-sons-in-law Peter Haynes, Brian Haynes, Rob Haynes, Craig Mason, Chad Mason, Chris Mason, Jim Mobley, Wesley Philyaw, Kenneth Dean, and her neighbor, Irvin Baggett.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her wonderful neighbors, Irvin and Joyce Baggett, friend Melissa Kelly, and the medical professionals who cared for her.
