Rubye Valentine

Rubye Elizabeth Valentine, 93, of Westminster died January 30, 2008 at Misty Ridge at Bloom Valley.

Born August 9, 1914 in Jones County, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late William Lawrence and Mattie Logan Price. She was the wife of the late Stephen E. Valentine, to whom she was married 62 years and who died on January 25, 1997.

She had been the Head Bookkeeper for Safeway stores in Landover, MD retiring in 1976. She graduated from Soso High School in Mississippi. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Manchester and loved gardening, flowers, reading, singing and reading her Bible. She also enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Manchester Senior Citizens.

Surviving is daughter Sylvia Valentine Canon Haines of Westminster; granddaughter and husband Laura J. and Geoffrey S. Black and grandson Thomas E. Canon II and Corina M. Hines of Westminster. Great Grandchildren Michael James Nusbaum and partner Valerie Uptmor of Morgantown, WV, Jennifer Elizabeth Nusbaum of Littlestown, PA, William Marshall Kelch of Taneytown, Nicole Katherine Canon of Glen Rock, PA, Hannah Noel Canon of Glen Rock, PA, Thomas Ewing Canon III of Taneytown; great great grandson Michael Aaron Nusbaum of Morgantown, WV and by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by son in law Lowell T. Haines and by siblings Mae Jewell Wood, William Hillman Price, Malcolm T. Price, Virginia P. Kelley, Robert Lloyd Price and Mary Catherine Price.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Officiating will be Chaplain Barbara Sears. Interment in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
