R. P. FREEMAN BEING MOURNED AT AGE OF 86

Respected Montgomery Community Leader Laid To Rest Tuesday Afternoon

Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for Rufus Pink Freeman, 86 year old resident of the Montgomery community at Route 4, Summit.

Mr. Freeman, a retired farmer and resident of the Montgomery community for over forty years, passed away at his residence at 4:20 p.m. Monday. He was born in Amite County on April 13, 1867.

Last rites were held from the Montgomery Baptist Church with Rev. C. B. Carleton of McComb officiating, assisted by Rev. W. C. Roberts. Friends of the family served as pallbearers.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Ethel Britt, Brookhaven; Mrs. Stella Wallace, Roseland, La.; and Misses Dixie, Ossie and Julia Freeman of Route 4, Summit; four sons, Hosea Freeman, Wren Freeman and Alcus Freeman, all of Rt. 4 Summit; and Julius Freeman of McComb; 22 grandchildren and 13 great grand-children.

Interment was in Montgomery Cemetery with Hartman Funeral Home in charge of services.
