Rupert Lewis Rites to Be Held Friday
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Brookwood Baptist Church for Rupert D. Lewis, 51, 9530 Primrose Ln., who died Wednesday at 11:55 p.m. in a local hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Lewis was a retired employe of the Louisiana Agriculture Department. A native of Vivian, he had lived here for 20 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Converse.
Survivors include his widow; two sons, David Ford Lewis and Rupert Dalton Lewis Jr., both of Shreveport; three sisters, Mrs. A. D. Ford of Wewoka, Okla., Mrs. Charles McMillan of Bakerfield, Calif., and Mrs. M. O. Deeter of Sacramento, Calif.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Le[w]is of Bakersfield, Calif.; and a grandson.
The Rev. L. H. Brown, pastor of the Brookwood Chruch, will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park West under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Richard G. May, Bruce Roberts, M. L. Goyne, A. H. Curtis, J. C. McMahan and J. W. Mryan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. J. L. Leopard III, Dr. R. D. Rigby and Dr. S. L. Gill.
