R. S. Mecom Dies In Jackson, Rites Wednesday
Russell S. Mecom, 56, died this morning shortly after 7 a.m. in Jackson, La. of a heart attack suffered Saturday.
The deceased was a member of the Wisner Methodist Church. Funeral services are tentatively scheduled Wednesday in Wisner.
Mecom was sanitarian for the Lincoln Parish Health Unit for a number of years and lived in Ruston before retiring and moving to Herbert [sic Hebert].
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Oden Mecom of Hebert, La., two sons, Bill Hebert of Slidell and John Mecom of Boulder, Colorado, one daughter, Mary Mecom, a student at La. Tech, one brother, Dr. Wilburn Mecon [sic Mecom] of Jackson, and two grandchildren.
