Ruth Cothran

Ruth Martin Cothran, 101, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday at Davis Life Care Center.

She was born Sept. 30, 1903, at Jersey, a daughter of the late James E. Martin and Zora Higgson Martin.

She was reared and received her early education at Warren and graduated from Warren public schools. She attended Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas) at Conway.

She moved to Starkville, Miss., in 1929.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church at West Point, Miss. She was awarded a life membership in the United Methodist Women.

She was also a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and was a former member of the Historical Society and Friends of the Library.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Randall Cothran, whom she married in 1931 at Greenville, Miss.; two brothers; and two sisters.

There are no immediate survivors.
