RUTH MARCELLE BARNES
Funeral services for Ruth Marcelle Barnes, 90, of Sweetwater, formerly of Roscoe, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Roscoe with Rev. Caleb Teeters and Rev. Keith Clifton officiating.
Burial will follow in Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 27, 2007, from 7-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Mrs. Barnes died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab Center of Sweetwater.
She was born Dec. 24, 1916 in Ellis County. She married Melvin Lynn Barnes Feb. 10, 1941 in Sweetwater. She had lived in the community since 1946. She had been an LVN at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder for 13 years and at Kristi Lee Manor in Colorado City fo seven years. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include one son, Mike Barnes of Sweetwater; five grandsons, Michael Lynn Barnes, Jr. of Winters, Randal Barnes and wife Pam of Winters, Billy Barnes and wife Robin of Abilene, Todd Barnes of Roscoe and Jeffrey Barnes of Sweetwater; and one great-granddaughter, Stephani Barnes of Abilene.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 28, 2003; one daughter, Vicki Elaine Barnes; one grandson; and by two brothers and five sisters.
