MRS. RUTH H. GARRETT

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Ruth Hinton Garrett, 56, of Soso, Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. from the Soso Baptist Church. The Revs. Richard Brogan and Gene Fant officiated, with burial in the Union Line Cemetery.

Mrs. Garrett who had been ill several years, died Monday in a Laurel nursing home. She was the daughter of the late J. A. (Josh) and Jakie Kelly Hinton.

Mrs. Garrett, a native of Soso and a former resident of Laurel, was a registered private duty nurse, a graduate of Walley Hospital School of Nursing in Jackson and a member of the Soso Baptist Church.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bernard C. Daly, and two grandsons, Chris Daly and Joe Pat Daly, all of Jackson, seven brothers, C. H. Hinton, B. F. Hinton and Tom Hinton all of Laurel, Roy Hinton and Jessie Hinton, Mission, Texas and Herman Hinton, Hopkinsville, Ky., two sisters, Mrs. P. C. Moore, Mobile, Ala. and Mrs. Geneva Delcambre, Jackson, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Hinton, P. C. Moore Jr., Joseph Hinton, J. W. Hinton, Sam Ned Hinton and Mason Hathorn.

Thompson Funeral Home was in charge.
