Ruth Howell Hauser
(September 11, 1939 - November 10, 2010)

Ruth “Ruthie” Howell Hauser went to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior on November 10th after a short battle with cancer. She was proud to have been born and raised in Bay County, the county settled and founded by her ancestors. She graduated Bay High School in 1957 and then attended the University of Alabama where she met her husband of 51 years, Mike. After their marriage in Panama City, they moved to Seattle where she attended the University of Washington (School of Architecture), then to Birmingham, studying at University of Alabama Birmingham. She and Mike moved back to Tuscaloosa where their two daughters were born, and she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics with a major in Interior Design, which was her occupation.

Ruthie enjoyed a life-long membership in the First United Methodist Church where she was married and raised her children. She was also a member of the Junior Service League. Later, she volunteered as a reading mentor for the children of Holy Nativity Episcopal School and Panama City Renaissance School. She was so proud of her family and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents W. Brown Howell and Estelle Hobbs Howell. She also precedes her beloved husband Michael Rhodes Hauser and daughters Laura Hauser McCain (Allen) of Birmingham and Elyse Hauser Fishel (John) of Panama City. Gran/“Rudie” will be greatly missed by her grandchildren -- Kaylor and Porter McCain and Brittany and Howell Fishel who are all currently engineering students at Auburn University. She is survived by her dear siblings Marie Howell Goostree (Ed) of Panama City, Lewis Howell (Pat) of Panama City, and Gwen Howell O'Rear (Caine) of Mobile. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Panama City on Saturday, November 13th at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00. A private family interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 903 East 4th St., Panama City, FL 32401 in memory of Ruthie Hauser.
