MRS. RUTH SEMPLE
Went to be with her Lord on December 5, 2001, Mrs. Ruth Lofton Semple of Washington Commons, Evans, beloved wife of Mr. Edward Earl Semple.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, December 10, 2001, at Platt's Belair Road Chapel, Evans, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Falwell and Pastor Bill Harrell officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter, Dr. Bobbie Ruth ElLaissi of Tybee Island; five brothers, Mr. W.B. Lofton, Mr. Fred Lofton, Mr. John Lofton all of Port Arthur, Texas, Mr. Harvey Lofton of Houston, Texas and Mr. Aaron Lofton of Pineville, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Williams of Colfax, La. and Mrs. Hazel Dammon of Port Arthur, Texas; three grandchildren, Fathy ElLaissi, Ruth ElLaissi Knight and Melanie Carroll ElLaissi; four great-grandchildren, Jason Alan Hendley Jr., Jamie Foss, William Fathy ElLaissi and Sarah Jane ElLaissi.
A cherished wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Mrs. Semple was a devoted Christian. She sang in trio, the choir and the Mothers Singers at the First Baptist Church in Longview, Texas. Mrs. Semple was also a former member of the Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va. and its Senior Saints. While in Lynchburg, she was also very active with the homebound. She was a Co-founder of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. and was currently a member of Abilene Baptist Church in Martinez.
