McDANIEL, RUTH NYEGAARD

Died 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 1993, at Catholic Presbyterian Apartments. She was 93, a native of Downsville and resident of Baton Rouge. She was a retired teacher and housewife. Visiting was held at Welsh Funeral Home, 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel, noon until religious services at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Chris Andrews. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Survived by a daughter, Cheri McDaniel, Baton Rouge; two sons, James Arthur McDaniel Jr., Tallulah, and Aubry Eugene McDaniel, Gautier, Miss.; a brother, Dan Nyegaard, Farmerville; six grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by husband, James Arthur McDaniel.

Pallbearers will be James Roland, Jason Roland, Ricky McDaniel, Pete Stringer, Barry Holmes and Dr. Richard Gaynor. Honorary pallbearer is the Rev. Marshall Paine.

Prior to moving to Baton Rouge 20 years ago, she taught leadership training courses throughout the Children's Division of the United Methodist Louisiana Conference. The last two decades were devoted to work with numerous organizations throughout East Baton Rouge Parish including the Council on Aging. At the time of her death, she was serving her 17th year as chairman of the Residential Council of the Catholic Presbyterian Apartments and was an active member of First United Methodist Church.
