Ruthie Temple Phelps
Ruthie Temple Phelps, 90, of Kentwood, La., died Nov. 29, 2006, at her residence.
Visitation continues today at Guiding Light Pentecostal Church in Magnolia until services there at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jerry Terrell and the Rev. Jimmy Phelps officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery under the direction of Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb.
Mrs. Phelps was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Liberty, to David and Maggie Whittington Temple.
She had been a member of Guiding Light Church since 1948.
Mrs. Phelps was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie James Phelps; two brothers, Rufus and Charlie Temple; three sisters, Nola T. Morgan, Hattie T. Smith and Liza T. Smith; a son, James Phelps; a son-in-law, Edward Zeigler; and a great-granddaughter, Ronda Mapes.
Survivors include two children, Rubie Lee Phelps Zeigler of Osyka and Billie Jean Phelps Booty of Kentwood, La.; 13 grandchildren, Melanie Booty, Daron Booty, Brandi Booty Hartman and husband Jonathan, Steve Phelps, Jerry Phelps, Sherry P. Foxworth, Teresa Z. Sanchez and husband Ernie, Gary Zeigler, Warren Zeigler, Glenn Zeigler, Glenda Z. Phelps, Betty Z. Taylor and Sandra Z. Burgess; 18 great-grandchildren, Tommy Mapes, Penny Mapes, Becky M. Alexander, Ricky Mapes, Christian Phelps; Joey Foxworth, Sean Foxworth, Amber Foxworth, Brandon Dillon, Robert Phelps, David Zeigler, Angel P. Carlo; Earnest Phelps, Kellie Zeigler, Kristie Sanchez, Kayla Sanchez, Stacy Z. Tolar and John Pauly; seven great-great-grandchildren; and her in-laws, Glen A. Booty and Faye Phelps.
Pallbearers are Raymond Cutrer, Jonathan Hartman, Earnest Phelps, Jerry Phelps, Ernie Sanchez, Gary Zeigler, Glenn Zeigler and Warren Zeigler.
