Mrs. Sadie Mecom Expires In Wisner
Mrs. Sadie Mecom, who before her marriage to Dr. W. A. Mecom of Wisner, was the former Miss Sadie Bridger, died at her home in Wisner Sunday night following a prolonged illness.
Mrs. Mecom was born and reared in Columbia. She married Dr. Mecom in 1903 and moved to Wisner where her husband has been a practicing physician ever since. She was a daughter of the late C. C. Bridger, Sr., of Columbia, being a half-sister to A. D. Bridger, C. C. Bridger, Jr., H. C. Bridger and Mrs. Lula Seal of this city.
Mrs. Mecom was one of the founders of the Wisner Methodist church and had been active in the church throughout the years.
Services were scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Wisner Methodist church with the Rev. C. B. White of Ruston in charge, assisted by the Rev. I. A. Love, pastor of the Wisner church.
Her husband was also reared in Caldwell parish, being a brother of the late Dr. F. H. Mecom and M. L. Mecom of this parish. Besides her brothers and sister residing in Columbia, she is also survived by two sons, Dr. W. E. Mecom of Jackson, and R. S. Mecom of Ruston, and another sister, Mrs. Eugenia Bush of New Orleans, as well as five grandchildren.
Interment was made in the Holly Grove cemetery in Franklin parish.
Pallbearers were A. J. Ensminger, Leo Bondurant, W. A. Tucker, W. C. Knotts, W. G. Huggins and C. H. Foster.
