SAMUEL C. JORDAN SUCCUMBS IN TEXAS
Word was received here last night of the death at Sadinal [sic Sabinal], Tex., of Samuel C. Jordan, who for many years was connected with the Methodist Publishing House. His death occurred there yesterday morning at a local infirmary of tuberculosis.
Mr. Jordan and his wife and three children, who survive him, left Nashville about two weeks ago to take up their residence in the Texas city, the change being made hoping to benefit his health. While he withstood the journey as well as could be expected, during the last few days he gradually lost strength and the end was not unexpected.
For many years Mr. Jordan was a steward in the McFerrin Memorial church and at all times held the interests of the church at heart. His kindly manners and his thoughtfulness of his friends won him a wide acquaintance who join with the widow and his sister, Mrs. George Benton, in mourning his loss.
Owing to the laws of the state of Texas, his remains cannot be removed from the state and will be interred in Sadinal [sic Sabinal]. He widow and the two daughters and one son will, in all probability, return to Nashville and take up their residence here.
