Samuel Jacob Pletcher

``Play It Again Sam''
Samuel Jacob Pletcher -- Husband, Father, Father-in-law, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and friend -- left this ole world, and was welcomed in Heaven, on March 8th, 2011.

As a young man, Sam became an accomplished violinist and had the golden opportunity to play with the San Antonio Symphony. He went on to play for local churches and for the rest of his life loved and cherished symphony music.

When he was young, he also had a love for flying. After becoming an accomplished pilot, he volunteered many hours teaching young people to fly in the Civil Air Patrol in the Valley of South Texas.

Sam also loved farming. He and Juanita Pletcher -- his beloved sweetheart of 65 years -- and their 2 children, Denver & Julie ... owned and operated a citrus grove in La Feria, Texas for several years.

After retirement from the Missouri Pacific Railroad, Sam and Juanita moved from the valley to San Marcos to be close to family.

Sam is survived by his wife Juanita Pletcher, their son, Denver and wife, Shelia and daughter, Julie Pletcher; his grand children Brad Pletcher and wife Allyson and Kyle Pletcher and wife, Jessica, and Ryan Nunn, and great grandsons Jake and Ethan Pletcher; and brother, Roy Pletcher and wife Louise; and sister, Barbara Pletcher.

As often stated, following a wonderful and moving violin solo at church, they are once again saying in heaven ... ``Play it again Sam''!

A Chapel Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Harrell Funeral Home Chapel, 1715 Kirby at 2770 & Kohlers Crossing, Kyle Texas.

Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2011 at Restlawn Memorial Park, La Feria, Texas.
