Aged Grayson Man Succumbs

S. R. Fitzgerald of Grayson, one of the parish's oldest citizens, died Sunday in the Caldwell hospital. He was 88 years of age.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, at the Riser and Son Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Dayton Doughty, pastor of the Grayson Baptist Church, in charge.

Interment was made in the Old Union cemetery under the direction of the Riser and Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Fitzgerald was a former resident of ward nine, but has been living in Grayson for several years now.

He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Essie (Ez) Humphries and Mrs. Effie Pettit, both of Baton Rouge; Mrs. Quincy Boyett of Olla and Mrs. David Spears of Monroe; three sons: Dewey Fitzgerald of San Augustine, Texas; David Fitzgerald of Baton Rouge and S. R. Fitzgerald, Jr. of Florida; one sister, Mrs. Ida Carter of near Grayson and 15 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
