Death Claims S. Sam Rolen After Long Illness

Following a lengthy illness, Sam S. Rolen, 56, died at his home on Route Three, Winnfield, March 3, 1945. Funeral services were conducted March 4, at the New Hope Church with the Rev. R. L. Daily in charge. Burial was under direction of Southern Funeral Home.

He was a native of Louisiana and was affiliated with the Baptist Church.

Mr. Rolen leaves his wife, Mrs. Bessie Rolen; four daughters, Mrs. Eunice Austin, Rt. 3, Winnfield; Mrs. Walter Johns, Rt. 1, Dodson; Misses Gladys and Lucille Rolen, Rt. 3, Winnfield; one son, Ivy Rolen, Rt. 4, Winnfield; and his mother, Mrs. Jane Rolen, Columbia, La.

Also surviving are four brothers, George Rolen, Camp Claiborne; John of Many, La.; Henry of Winnsboro; Robert of Columbia; and four sisters, Mrs. Bell Buchan, Rt. 4, Winnfield; Mrs. H. H. Lee and Mrs. George Warner, Columbia, and Miss Jessie Bratton of Clarks.
