PUCKETT -- Sam F. Wimberly, 71, a gauger, died of a heart attack Wednesday at Simpson General Hospital.

Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl with burial in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Puckett.

Mr. Wimberly was a native of Louisiana and a member of Union Baptist Church. He was retired from Chevron Oil Company. He was a Mason and an alderman.

Survivors include: wife, Hazel; sons, Sam W. Wimberly of Florence, Chester Newman of Natchez and Doug Newman of Hattiesburg; brothers, Wise Wimberly and Bill Wimberly, both of Meadville; sisters, Sallie Phillips of New Orleans and Ellen Miller of Natchez; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
