Sammie Hutson Crawford

Graveside services for Sammie Hutson Crawford are 2 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. Catchings Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from noon until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Crawford was born in McComb on April 6, 1926. She died on April 29, 2007. She was 81 years old.

She was the wife of Dr. J.D. Crawford, of Brookhaven, and a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven for many years.

She was paralyzed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome and myasthenia gravis for the last part of her life, but it did not stop her from doing the things she liked to do. She was a happy person and never talked about her problems. She was very artistic in ceramics, needlework and interior decorating.

Preceding her in death were her husband; her son, James Benny Crawford, of Louisville; her parents, Sam Hutson and Maude Hutson; and two sisters, Nell Driscoll and Juanita Simmons.

Survivors are her children, Jeanette Kelly and husband Pope, of Madison, Jerry Crawford, of Houston, Texas, and Joe Crawford and wife Mary, of Brookhaven; her sister, Yvonne Farnham, of Florence; her sister-in-law, Beth Tempel Crawford, of Louisville; and her 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
